Swedish-Calistoga MassageDorena offers a firm Swedish-Calistoga style massage. This type of massage involves applying pressure to muscles (rubbing, rolling and compression) and is designed to relax the muscles while improving circulation into and out of the area. Tension is relieved and toxins are liberated |
Hot Stone MassageHot stone massage combines all the benefits of Swedish massage with the healing properties of stones. The hot stones are placed on the torso, where they begin the process of warming and relaxing the major tension holding muscles of the body. In addition, the body is massaged with smooth, warm, river stones, enhancing the bodies capacity to relax and release. |

Trigger Point ReleaseSometimes pain experienced in one area can be caused by tight muscles that don't feel sore or tight until touched. For example, pain in the hands can be due to tension in muscles of the forearm or even muscles in the neck or upper body! Massage to relax the active “trigger points” in the tight muscle can relieve the referring pain pattern. |
Deep Tissue MassageChronically tight and “knotted” muscles can sometimes be released by deep pressure. This type of massage is not comfortable, but some individuals find deep work to be the only method of restoring flexibility and circulation to chronically overused muscles. |
Gentle Soft Tissue ReleaseThis method is an alternative to deep tissue for those individuals that prefer to avoid the discomfort of deep work or don't respond well to deep tissue work. This technique uses positioning with very little pressure to activate the bodies innate ability to heal and relax. This technique is based on the experience that movement in line with the bodies natural tendency can result in neuromuscular release of inappropriately held tension.

Reiki and Hands on HealingDuring hands on healing, energy (Reiki being one particular type) is channeled from the universe to the client. This energy often increases the sense of well-being and enhances relaxation. Incorporated into a Swedish massage, this subtle energy is offered to support the client's innate healing. Sensitive people can feel the flow of “energy” which may be experienced as warmth radiating from the practitioner's hands. More focused work can done at the client's request to aid in the healing of specific injuries and other imbalances in the body.
